At no other time of the year are the colors of the season so vibrant and glorious as they are in the summer … especially in the flower gardens. In creating this Jacobean table rug design, it is those brilliant colors I sought to highlight. A low vase, something like a crystal rose bowl, with a small bouquet of the season’s brightest flowers, will sit perfectly on the scalloped circle of green in the center.
This design features just enough embellishment embroidery to stimulate the already-vivid colors of the hand-dyed wool fabric a bit more, so if, in addition to the basic blanket stitch (for the applique), you have a working knowledge of chain stitching, french knots, lazy daisy stitches, and the wheel stitch (which is nothing more than blanket stitching done in a full or partial circle), you are set to enjoy many wonderful hours of stitching.
Available as a pattern or pattern/kit combination, your order is, as always, shipped FREE.
If, on the other hand, you need this pattern in the next few minutes, simply select the “Downloadable PDF” version of the pattern when you make your purchase.
Printed-and-mailed patterns are packed into clear 9″ x 12″ zip lock bags. The contents of the 15-page pattern for “Jacobean Summer” include a cover page with full-color photographs of the completed project, a second full color page showing close-up shots of the embroidery embellishment details, and a third color page showing the entire project in its basted stage as well as a photo of the DMC size 8 balls of thread used for the embroidery embellishment. Also included are a page of detailed written instructions, eight pages of line drawings showing the full-sized layout of the entire runner/rug, as well as all the embroidery stitching used throughout the design. There are also three pages with full-size drawings of all the design elements, and finally, a page listing the fabric requirements and the DMC size 8 threads/colors used in this project.
If you order the pattern/kit combination, you will also receive the 28″ x 17 1/2″ coat-weight black wool background fabric, and all the colorful hand-dyed wool fabric used throughout the design. In addition, the brown strips for the vines are cut for you. Floss and backing fabric are not included, as these are usually very much by preference of the stitcher.
